Digital inheritance: «big companies» and social account after the user's death
The study aims to analyze how the largest companies in the world of internet have regulated the phenomenon of digital inheritance in the sense of the transferability, or not, of the deceased’s social account. The first question concerns two aspects: which entity has the power to control digital data and content after the person’s death, and which rights and assets linked to online processing, fall within the concept of «digital inheritance».
Our purpose is also to compare the contents of the general terms and conditions of the “big companies” with the will of the owner of the account, to understand if there is a conflict in terms of transmissibility or not of the personal or patrimonial data contained in it."
